9 December 2019 – Alt de Ample (Dead Dog)

It was great to be out walking having cancelled last Monday and Thursday due to heavy rain
The forecast was sunny and hot
When we started at 1000 it was sunny, but certainly not hot
But by the time we reached our banana stop it was pleasantly warm
It was only a week since our last walk, but it seemed much longer
A few familiar faces were missing as they had returned to the UK for Christmas
However we did have a new face as Jim joined us for his first walk with the group
We are always surprised how much we enjoy doing this walk
The scenery is not only impressive, but ever changing
And we have a great spot for our picnic lunch
Joanne tried to keep out of this photo of Jan and I, but failed miserably!
Everyone was more concentrated than usual, so it was easier to do the sweet distribution
This is the photo Joanne was trying to keep out of
After lunch there is the long zig zag mosarabic downhill path
It takes about an hour to reach the bottom
But we had frequent water stops to admire my favourite view of the Jalon Valley
This section is more exposed, and by now the sun really was very hot
We were relieved to reach the last section, which is through the woods
Very enjoyable walk, particularly after the wet and miserable weather last week

Stats
Distance - 10 km
Time Taken - 5 hours
Total Ascent - 507 metres
