29 April 2019 – Col de Rates

Sixteen of us for today’s walk
This included Cordula and Dieter who are here for a short visit

We were also pleased to have Barry and Linda back, particularly as they brought two bags of English sweets for the group
We see the Col de Rates every day from our balcony, and never get tired of the view
We must have climbed it at least 20 times, and never tire of the experience
This is always a very friendly group, but seemed even more so today
Perhaps everyone is still enjoying the bright sunshine after our dismal weather last week
One of the features of our walks is that we have lots of water and photo stops
This allows everyone to enjoy the scenery
The tracks are quite rough and do not allow us to look around and walk at the same time
Very colourful today with lots of spring flowers along the track
A short water stop at the mirador (view point)
Then the short climb to our picnic site
Thanks to Anita for this photo of us together
We arrived at our picnic site just before the scheduled 1300
Lots of space to spread out and for Steve and Lyn to find a quiet spot to enjoy the view
Not only did we have Jan’s usual sweet distribution, but Rosemary had sent a packet of mini Easter eggs which were very much appreciated
I don’t know who this is in memory of, but what a lovely spot to have it
Downhill all the way after lunch at a very easy pace
Yet another lovely walk and more lovely memories
