17 December 2019 – Montgo Iberian Settlements

It was overcast, but not cold, for our last walk of 2019
However most of us came well wrapped up, just in case
This used to be one of our favourite walls, but we have not done it much recently
This was mostly because it is a relatively short walk and a long drive
However we have now added an extension which makes it more suitable

We usually have a smaller group at this time of year
Many regulars have returned to the UK for Christmas

But today we had 15 in the group
This included four new members

Jim was a newcomer last week, and brought his wife Nicky today

The sun almost made an appearance for our lunch at the settlement
David and Sandra also joined us for their first walk with the group
Fiona was the fourth new member
We are very pleased with how quickly the new Monday group has developed
Our aim was to fill a gap between the other two U3A walking groups
We expected that it would take about a year to build up the membership

But in just three months we have 11 resident and 16 non-resident members
Despite so many new members today, everyone got on together really well
And we are really looking forward to seeing them all again in January
We wish all of our walking friends a very Happy Christmas
