28 October 2019 – Parcent to Benichembla

Warm and sunny morning for our walk
Much appreciated after last Monday heavy rain
We had done a recce last Saturday to confirm the river was passable
Before we set off we warned everyone that walking sticks would be useful to ford the river
But when we got there we found that the water level had fallen considerably
This is a new walk for us and the group
I was quite confident as I had done a full recce and recorded it on my satnav
But I was still unsure how long it would take, and how the group would manage
I need not have worried, it went well and everyone enjoyed it
Most knew the first section from Parcent to Murla
We had done this many times as a group, so there were no surprises
From Murla to Benichembla was new to most
We had done it once before with David and Rosemary in 2011
But had also done a recce a few weeks ago, and again on Saturday

One surprise was a couple of dogs who joined us for our banana break

They were very friendly, and most interested in what was in our packs
Eventually their owner arrived and with some difficulty got them under control

It took us a little longer to get to Benichembla than I expected
So we had a shorter than usual picnic break
But we completed the whole walk in less than the anticipated five hours

Stats
