11 November 2019 – Bolulla Castle

This was the fifth walk of our newly formed Monday Ramblers group
It was also the first walk cold enough to require jackets
This was partly because it was, as always, much colder in the Castells area
But also because there was a particularly cold wind
We are delighted that the group is starting to develop its own personality
Until now we have relied on “old timers” like John, David, Barry, Linda, Tom and Sue
Only David was with us today, and he returns to the UK later this week
We have been very lucky to recruit so many suitable new members in such a short time
And already they are starting to feel like a group, rather than a collection of strangers
And we are fortunate that we have a high proportion of residents
We are also very lucky to be able to welcome regular part time “old faces”
It was great to see Anneke and Toon again, who were amongst our very first members when we started four years ago
It is also a real pleasure to introduce new members to the delights of hill walking in this beautiful area
And this photo of our picnic site illustrates just what I mean
This was the first time that most of the group had done this walk
And I made sure that we stopped to let them enjoy particularly good views
Such as this one which everyone wanted to photograph
I sometimes think it would be nice to have a permanent group of regular walkers
But having a variety of regular and part timers ensure that no two walks are ever the same
Yet another hugely enjoyable walk, and lovely to share it with such a friendly group
Stats
