20 May 2019 – Lleus to Pinos

16 on today’s walk, should have been 19 but we had three cancellations
This included Pete and Sue who were guests of Mike and Jo
Hot today, but not as hot as forecast
And fortunately we had a cool breeze
But most still found the hill climb a challenge
But the scenery was at its best in the bright sunshine
We had plenty of water stops to enjoy the views
And were even able to do so whilst walking, once we completed the climb
The “lads group” took turns as back marker, but a different one each time I checked, just to confuse me
It was particularly colourful today, with lots of spring flowers
Pete and Sue seemed to manage ok, despite not being used to the terrain or the heat
Plenty of room to spread out and no need to watch where you put your feet
We soon reached the gorge where we had our banana stop
Not much shade, but well timed cloud shielded the sun
The gorge is a dramatic part of the walk, but becoming very overgrown
It was also difficult to find the track up to Pinos, which has almost disappeared
But we managed to find it ok and soon reached the Pinos road
We had lunch in the attractive Pinos church square
Where everyone tried to find some shade
Despite the heat this was another very enjoyable walk in great company
Stats
Distance - 11 km
Time Taken – 5 hours
Total Ascent - 415 metres
