11 March 2019 – Bernia Forat

Fifteen of us for today’s walk
The weather forecast was for overcast, which it was at the start

Not a bad thing as most of the climbing is up to the forat
It was very busy today, we saw at least five other groups
Even at the first water stop we were still well wrapped up
However we warmed up as we climbed
Even scrambled in a few places
Not everyone enjoyed going through the forat
But everyone did enjoy the wonderful view at the far end
And we were fortunate that the sun came out as we had our banana break
This really is a spectacular walk
And not nearly as difficult as some of the photos make it look
A cool breeze made us postpone our usual lunch spot
And we had an extra issue of boiled sweets to get us to the fort
The wind was still quite cool, but there are plenty of wind breaks
And out of the wind it was pleasantly warm
There is also plenty of space so we could spread out for our picnic
After lunch it was downhill on very good tracks
So we could enjoy the constantly impressive views
Ending a lovely walk with a cold drink at Bar Refugio
