5 September 2019 – Jalon to Alcalali

Six of us for today’s walk
The day before there were eleven, but five cancelled due to illness or the weather forecast

We were surprised to see so many grapes ready to pick, and quite a few tractors full of them on the way to the bodega in Jalon
The weather forecast was for rain or storms, depending on which one you read
But it was dry throughout the walk, though overcast at times
That was not a bad thing, as you don’t want to be walking in direct sun at this time of year.
We were pleased that the river was not too high, despite recent rain
The rain and sun combined has resulted in everything growing at a great rate
The clouds did thicken as we reached Alcalali and we quite expected the rain which was forecast for 1100
We have not done these summer walks before, and consequently did not know how long they would take
So we had an extra water stop at the Ermitia

On the way back to Jalon I turn a wrong turning and we did an extra 20 minute unplanned extension

No one minded the extra walk, but some (who shall be nameless) did complain about our late arrival at the bar

It was great to be able to walk in our lovely valley in good company after the long summer break
