13 June 2019 – Tormos to Isbert Dam

It was only 18c when we left Parcent this morning
It rose to the mid 20s during the walk, but was much cooler than expected

These two friendly dogs came from the bull compound, and John removed a tick from one of them
John also explained the “Bull Run” walk today, a task which usually belongs to David
The very dangerous looking ledge can be clearly seen on this photo
Nice to welcome James, Tanya’s husband, on his second walk with the group
We reached the river at Isbert Dam at exactly 1030, right on time for this three hour walk
We did not go to the dam itself, because the river is very overgrown
It was difficult enough just crossing the dry river bed and climbing the far side
It was just as cloudy as the weather forecast promised, but at least no rain which was a 10% chance
The disused rail tunnel was much drier than when we last did this walk
We had our banana break at the usual place
But did not have to tackle the climb to Fontilies and then Campell as we usually do
We were making such good time that I opted for the slightly longer extension back
Even though this did include the climb up from the river
It should have been a water stop, but most followed Jan when she sat down
Except for John who pointed out other walks we had done in this area
It was also nice to welcome Jean back for a visit, and to see that she is recovering well from her injury.
We finished at Bar Almasara, which is fast becoming one of our favourites
Great walk in great company, and confirmation that short summer walks are not only possible but also very enjoyable.
