27 May 2019 – Montgo Iberian Settlement

Only eight of us for this recce of a walk I had never led before
It is also five years since I last walked part of the walk
So perhaps that explains the low number today
I didn’t take as many photos as usual, I had to pay more attention to the route
Once more we were grateful for the wooded section, as it was pretty hot
We also had more water and rest breaks than usual
However we still reached the settlement by midday
A little early for lunch, but too good a spot not to have it anyway
It is also a very good location for a photo
Or to admire the lovely views
And surprisingly comfortable despite the lack of shade
A final photo opportunity
And then downhill on the very difficult track
We admired the Arabic style houses, and an unusual flag which the occupier identified as the City of Koln
I had the return journey logged on my satnav
So it was much easier to follow the route
Everyone else just enjoyed the walk
Even the uphill section near the end
All agreed that this walk should be added to next year’s walking list
We even found a bar in Jesus Probe, plus this impressive street art in progress
