2 May 2019 – Orba Castle

Seventeen of us for today’s walk
The weather was cloudy but dry
It is more than a year since we last did this walk
We cancelled it in November due to rain
So Jan and I were particularly looking forward to doing it again
This cairn made us smile
We were relieved to find that the river at Murla was not too deep
We had our banana break outside the church in Murla
We passed a Dutch group at the sports centre, and thought we might have a race for the castle

So we were relieved when they went off on a different walk
It was quite humid, so we had quite a few water stops during the climb
We found quite a few differences when we reached the castle
A new roped pathway restricted access to quite a lot of the area
But there is still plenty of space to spread out for our picnic
I was pleased to find a slightly easier start to the old CBMW track down
It’s more difficult than ever to find, but with the help of my satnav we followed it ok
David is helping Jan, not dancing with her
It is always a relief to reach the road and be able to walk without having to look at the path all the time
We completed the walk half an hour faster than last time, perhaps we are getting fitter
The sun appeared for our after walk drink in Parcent Cooperativea
