We had a large group of 19 for today’s walk
This is probably because this is our first official walk
since the five days of rain over the Easter weekend
It was cloudy today and also quite humid
This made the climb at the start quite hard going
And everyone was well pleased to arrive at the banana
stop
The popular name for this walk is “Dead Dog”
So named because of Spanish hunters leaving poisoned tins
of sardines around the area
There was a cool breeze once we reached the top of the
hill
Which made following the mosarabic trail much more
pleasant
There were some murmers when we reached the climb to our
picnic site
But everyone agreed that the view made it
worthwhile
it was quite chilly sitting down, so we did not linger
long over lunch
The descent to the main trail was more difficult
than the ascent
John is always a font of knowledge about the area
The path down is another mosarabic trail following a
winding route
Where you have to pay attention to where you put your
feet
And can only enjoy the views when we have our regular
water stops
Despite the cloudy sky it was a wonderful walk and great
to be out in the mountains again
Missing both walks last week only made us appreciate this
one all the more
