11 April 2019 – Tarbena

17 of us for today’s walk
Tarbena is a long drive for some of the group, but this walk is worth it
It was nice to welcome Steve and Lynn back from their long Australian holiday
It was also good to have a bright sunny morning for the walk
This is the first time we did this walk with our Thursday group
For some it was also their first time in Tarbena
There is a steep descent at the start of the walk
Followed by an even longer and steeper ascent
So everyone was really pleased to get to the banana break
Everyone made for the shade when we arrived

But soon found that the pleasant cool breeze walking was quite chilly when sat down
So we were soon walking again
Everyone warmed up again when we reached the gully
Which involves a scramble down and back up the far side
We were all ready for our picnic lunch at the long water trough
But today it was not long enough for everyone
Then my favourite part of the walk, the long downhill walk to the Mirador
Where the spectacular view is captured on the mosaic map
I promised an easy walk to Tarbena, but had forgotten the last steep hill
Fortunately the bar was open today for our well deserved drink
