7 January 2019 – Pinos Fossil Walk

17 of us for the first walk of 2019
This included David who has just returned from the UK
Jan was not on today’s walk
She has a bad dose of flu and I left her at home in bed
It was a sunny morning, but very cold as we started to climb
I was really pleased that John found not one, but two fossils
Proof, if proof were needed, that the name of the walk is justified
It is quite a steep climb at the start but the pace was moderate with water stops
It took us about an hour to reach the finca and our banana stop
Quite surprised to find quite a lot of almond blossom so early in January
By now we had warmed up and removed our outer layers
And this section has impressive extensive views
It was great to be out in the open on such a lovely winter day
Arrived at our picnic spot right on time
Where I distributed the sweets Jan had packed for the group
We then had a short unplanned detour when I lost the track
But quickly recovered and soon reached the donkey field
I fed them the sliced apple which Jan had packed for them
Then a gentle walk down the rugged valley
Lovely walk, great company and a good start to 2019

There are more photographs of the walk in the video slideshow.
