21 January 2019 – Pedreguer Castel d’Aixa

18 of us started the walk on a very cold morning
This included Mike and Elaine who have just rejoined after the Christmas break
We were only about 15 minutes into the walk when one member fell and suffered a nasty head gash
It was obvious that the injury would need medical attention, but fortunately they could walk.
Six of the group left the walk and returned to the start
The rest of us continued the walk obviously very concerned about the injured walker
We were relieved to hear at our banana break that they had reached the cars ok
The incident cast a cloud over the walk, and reminded us how easy it is for any of us to suffer a serious injury
It also reinforced how important it is to walk in a group rather than on your own
We were late when we reached the base of Castel d’Axia
A few of the group were also still recovering from the effects of flu
So we decided to have our picnic lunch at the bottom of the hill
Fortunately it was sheltered from the cold wind and proved a very pleasant spot
Everyone is smiling because I suggested Jan could do a pole dance on the sign post
Despite the sun and the pace it was still necessary to keep wrapped up
We also had a good view of the work being carried out on the castle above Llosa
Throughout the walk we got updates on the injured walker, who were now at Denia hospital
When we reached the bar we heard that they needed stitches but were otherwise ok
All our best wishes go to them and hope they will soon be walking with us again
Despite the cold weather, and the accident, it was a lovely walk
